About

Dr. Sigal Levy is a licensed clinical psychologist.  She holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has provided services for over 20 years.  She is a proud recipient of the Clinician of the Year Award – Southeast Region, August 2013 at the FADAA Annual Conference.  She provides evidence-based psychological therapy for individuals, Couples, and families.  Dr. Levy enjoys working with pre-teens, teenagers, adults, and older adults, going through depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, grief/loss, eating disorders and life transitions.

Dr. Levy takes pride in receiving specialized education in cultural sensitivity and diversity which has helped her provide individualized treatment, tailored uniquely for each person.  She is passionate about and highly experienced in working with people with diverse background, including those from multicultural backgrounds as well as the LGBTQ community. 

Background

Dr. Levy earned her B.A. degree from Florida Atlantic University, graduating Summa Cum Lauder and is a proud recipient of both awards: the Kenneth R. Williams Award and Scholarship in 1991 and University Scholar Award 1988-89 at Florida Atlantic University.  She later received a M.S. degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University.  She completed an American Psychological Association (APA) approved pre-doctoral internship focused on, but not limited to, eating disorders, depression, anxiety addiction issues and psychological evaluations, in outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings.  Her Postdoctoral Residency was done in residential and outpatient settings at the Susan B. Anthony Center and Private practice, performing psychological testing and providing a wide range of group, family, and individual therapeutic services.  As a licensed psychologist, she has provided clinical services, training, and supervision at various settings in which she has worked.

Therapeutic Approach and Style

Dr. Levy’s therapeutic style is warm, authentic, and compassionate.  She is emotionally attuned and actively listens to her clients’ needs, helping to facilitate a sense of safety.  In a collaborative approach, she helps clients work towards their desired goals.  She effectively challenges and inspires her clients to replace ineffective behaviors and limited thoughts or beliefs.  At a comfortable pace for treatment, Dr. Levy assists in transforming pain with healing and ineffective coping skills and obstacles with successful strategies and renewed opportunities.

She integrates evidence-based techniques and therapeutic approaches to suit each person’s unique background, needs, and goals.  Dr. Levy values a strength-based therapeutic approach and commonly utilizes interventions founded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Family systems.   

On a more personal note – Outside of the work environment, she values spending time with friends and family.  She balances her life with self-care, exercising, jogging, yoga, bike riding and most favorably, dancing.

Professional Affiliations and Licenses

Dr. Levy is licensed and provides services in the states of Florida and Rhode Island.  She is a member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists where she is credentialed as a health service psychologist and a member of the Florida Psychological Association.
